Dr. Carmen Botero is the founder of Pediatric Acute Care Medical Associates, Inc., and an advocate for children's health worldwide. A UCLA-trained Pediatric Intensivist and Cardiologist, she is a pioneer in teaching pediatric advanced life support and critical care in South American and Middle Eastern countries.

She holds a master's degree in international public health, with an emphasis on maternal and child health from UCLA. She has helped develop emergency services for children across the globe while working as a consultant in many countries.

As a Pediatric Intensivist serving in a community hospital in Los Angeles, Dr. Botero saw the need for an emergency 'medical practice devoted to children that could serve best as a private ER with the continuity of the pediatrician's office when it's closed. In 2003, she started the only exclusive pediatric urgent care center in the San Fernando Valley, and expanded its services to the Santa Clarita Valley in 2007. Our center now only in Encino serves patients from 0 to 18 years of age and has earned a reputation for treating the most common pediatric emergencies with the utmost skill and efficiency.

Dr. Botero is originally from Colombia, South America. Her passion is teaching doctors around the world how to properly recognize and treat sick children. A recognized expert in the field of pediatric medicine, she is interviewed often by local and international media. Dr. Botero has received numerous awards and honors throughout her career in recognition of her service to children worldwide.
